Blue-tongued Skink
Tiliqua scincoides intermedia (Reptiles & Amphibians)
Australia
Wild: Unknown
Captivity: 20 years
Blue-tongued skinks are aptly named after their blue tongue, which is used in a type of anti-predator behavior called deimatic display. In a species like Toast, deimatic display involves rapid full-tongued movements during an encounter with a predator in hopes that the bright-colored and fast-moving tongue will deter the predator.
